On February 11th local time, at the 23rd Casablanca International Book Fair, writer Liu Zhenyun was awarded the "National Cultural Highest Honor Award" by the Moroccan Ministry of Culture to recognize the impact of his works in the Arab world. This is the first time a Chinese writer has won this award.
This award aims to recognize writers of other languages who have had a significant impact on Arabic literature. The award speech said, "Liu Zhenyun writes the deepest ideas in the most humorous way, the most complex things in the simplest way, and the most wonderful artistic structures in the simplest language." Liu Zhenyun said that the award is an encouragement to the author, and his writing may not be so good. The lifestyle and attitude of the Arab world have deeply touched me, and the unique perspective of Arab literature on life has also provided profound inspiration for my writing. The more you come into contact with multiple cultures, the more you realize your shortcomings in writing. I will approach my next work with the mindset of a novice writer.
This is another important national level award in the Arab world that Liu Zhenyun has received, following his receipt of the "Highest Honor Award for Egyptian Culture" in 2016.
It is reported that Liu Zhenyun's works such as "Tapu", "Touren", "Mobile Phone", "One Sentence Top Ten Thousand Sentences", "Warm Memories of 1942", and "Selected Novels of Liu Zhenyun" have gained numerous readers in Morocco and the Arabic speaking world after being translated into Arabic, and have also had a huge influence in the intellectual world, which is not common among writers of other languages in the world.
